A Walking Tour Through Our Historic Main Street

It's easy to drive straight through on your way to somewhere else, but our main street rewards a slower look. Most of the buildings date back well over a century, and a short walk from one end to the other takes you past most of what makes this town worth stopping in.

Start at the Old Post Office

Now home to a small gallery, the building's original ironwork and clock tower are worth a photo before you continue down the street.

Browse the Saturday Market

If your visit lines up with a Saturday, the farmers market fills the town square with local produce, baked goods, and the occasional live music.

Stop at the Heritage Pub

One of the oldest continuously licensed pubs in the region, it's worth a look inside even if you're not stopping for a drink — the original bar and pressed-tin ceilings are still intact.

Finish Under the Jacarandas

Time your visit for late October to November and the street's row of jacarandas puts on a proper show, carpeting the footpath in purple.

Getting There

The main street is an easy fifteen-minute walk from the motel, or a two-minute drive if you'd rather save your legs for later.
